Environmental Benefits of HP & UHP Water vs Mechanical Breaking
Reduced Dust & Airborne Pollution
HP and UHP water suppress dust at the source, significantly reducing airborne particulates and respirable silica. Jackhammers generate large volumes of dry dust that can impact air quality, workers and surrounding environments.
Selective Material Removal = Less Waste
Water‑based methods remove only the deteriorated or targeted material, preserving sound concrete or substrates. Mechanical breaking is less precise and often results in excessive material removal and unnecessary waste.
Improved Waste Recovery & Recycling
Material removed via water jetting can often be captured, separated and reused or recycled. Jackhammering typically produces mixed rubble that is harder to segregate and reuse.
Lower Noise & Vibration Impact
HP/UHP water generates far less noise and vibration, reducing environmental disturbance to surrounding operations, structures and communities. Mechanical impact methods ca
Reduced Secondary Damage
Water jetting avoids micro‑fracturing and shock loading, preserving structural integrity and extending asset life—reducing the need for future repairs and associated environmental impact.
No Heat, No Emissions from Cutting
Unlike some mechanical or thermal methods, water‑based removal introduces no heat, sparks or combustion by‑products, lowering overall environmental and safety ris
